DJing the After Party for a Starz Red Carpet Premiere: Shining Vale

Last February, I was approached to do a very cool after party for the Starz Network. This was for a red carpet premiere for their exciting new Horror-Comedy show, Shining Vale. The show stars Courtney Cox and features a stellar cast including Greg Kinnear, Sherilyn Fenn, Mira Sorvino, Merrin Dungey, and Judith Light. The party was very unique, and I was specifically asked that the beginning of the event's music revolve around the 70's mega-hit Evil Women by Electric Light Orchestra. They wanted me to mix other popular music from around that era with remixed current top 40 hits, Hip-Hop and R&B.

I kicked off the night playing 70's and 80's Rock/Hop remixes at the iconic No Vacancy club in Hollywood. It was so fun to see the area filled with celebrities and members from the show. A small little dance floor sprung to life as the tunes raged on. The highlight of the party was seeing Courtney Cox dance to Yeah by Usher. This was such a fun night. Thank you Starz Network, Shining Bell, and No Vacancy for throwing such a great after-party and having me DJ it.

Also, shout out to Barry from my flight coming from a gig in DC before the Starz party. I had to just been upgraded to business (thanks American Airlines) and Barry was a grandfather just looking to keep his status for the new year. I was telling him about the songs and cool 1970s music I was looking to play and he texted me an entire list of songs that he used to bang out in his generation. You never know who you will meet. He was the sweetest!
